Carmién Tea's story began in 1998 in Citrusdal, nestled at the foot of the Cederberg Mountains in the Western Cape. Founded by Mientjie Mouton on the historic Brakfontein Estate, Carmién has grown into one of South Africa's leading rooibos tea producers, available both locally and in countries around the globe.
Their range includes organic and conventional rooibos, flavoured infusions, and refreshing cold brew blends — all sourced from prime growing regions including their own Piekenierskloof Mountains. Every product is produced on Fairtrade principles, and Carmién supports over 4,000 beneficiaries through early childhood development centres, skills training, and social upliftment programmes.
