It all began with Grandma Barrett's beer bread, a staple at family lunches for as long as anyone can remember. Founder Tayrene tweaked Gran's recipe into a range of flavoured mixes, and every 450g bag is produced in South Africa and, as the label says, made with love.

These versatile mixes require minimal effort. Just combine the mix with your favourite beer, or a non-alcoholic alternative, and bake. Enjoy the warm, comforting aroma of freshly baked bread in minutes.

How to Bake Your Loaf

1. Preheat your oven to 190°C.
2. Tip the whole bag into a bowl and add one 330ml beer at room temperature.
3. Stir until the batter is well mixed, then scrape it into a buttered loaf tin. For an extra crispy crust, brush the top with melted butter.
4. Bake for about 45 minutes. Each bag makes one loaf in a standard loaf tin.

That puts a hot loaf on the table in less time than it takes the braai coals to be ready, so a bag in the cupboard is a handy standby for unexpected guests.
